Shadow Mountain Golf Club

Shadow Mountain Golf Club is a semi-private 18-hole course in Palm Desert, California, designed by Grand Slam winner Gene Sarazen and opened in March 1958 — the first golf course built in Palm Desert. Tucked into the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains in south Palm Desert, the par-70 layout is shielded from the winds that affect many desert courses nearby. Over 600 mature palm trees line well-defined fairways, while carefully placed sand bunkers protect challenging greens. The course is built to test rather than overwhelm, rewarding shot-shaping and course management over raw power. It is one of the few desert courses that can still be walked. Shadow Mountain sits just a few blocks from the El Paseo shopping district and offers memberships, affordable public play, and golf instruction, making it accessible to golfers of all abilities.
