RTJ Golf Trail at Lakewood Golf Club (Azalea) is a renovated 18-hole challenge set in Point Clear, Alabama, where azalea bushes line the fairways and water comes into play at nearly every turn. The Azalea course is the more demanding of Lakewood's two 18-hole layouts, though five sets of tees per hole make it accessible to a wide range of players. The renovation added or expanded 10 water features across both courses, and the results show in the conditioning and variety of decisions golfers face throughout the round. The signature 14th hole is a par-5 with an island green surrounded by a four-acre lake, making the approach one of the most demanding shots on the property. The course alternates openings between Grand Hotel guests, Trail Card Holders, and Lakewood Golf Club members. Funded by the Retirement Systems of Alabama, Lakewood Golf Club has been named to Golf Magazine's Best Golf Resorts in America list multiple times.
