Royal Wellington Golf Club (Heretaunga)

Royal Wellington Golf Club (Heretaunga) is an 18-hole championship course in Upper Hutt, Wellington, rated 4.9 by Hole19 golfers and one of the most-played courses in Wellington on Hole19. The Heretaunga course was redesigned by Greg Turner and Scott Macpherson and opened in 2013, using existing corridors and land opened up near the Hutt River. It sits on the river flat between the terrace and the Hutt River, where the ground is flat to gently undulating and cut by two water courses, including the Mawaihakona Stream. Copses of trees frame tees and greens and define the margins of most holes. The course shares the property with the shorter Terrace nine, and the two layouts occasionally intersect. Earlier milestones include sand-based greens designed by Sir Bob Charles and John Darby, built in 1992–93 for the championship layout.
