Rota Club de Golf

Rota Club de Golf does not own its own course, but its competitions are typically held at the Captain Jake Dennis Golf Course inside the Naval Base of Rota — one of the oldest and most storied layouts in the province of Cádiz. Construction began in 1953 and was completed around 1955. The base itself sits within the municipality of Rota, Andalusia, under joint Spanish and American command, with both nations sharing its facilities equally. The 18-hole layout is defined by rugged, uneven terrain. Slow greens, firm fairways, and towering eucalyptus trees demand precision from tee to green — stray off the fairway and the course punishes heavily. These conditions gave rise to the so-called "golpe roteño," a creative recovery shot developed and favoured by local players over the decades. Rated 4.1 by Hole19 golfers, the course has earned its reputation among those who appreciate character and challenge over comfort.
