Rio Colorado Golf Club

Rio Colorado Golf Club is a Gary Player-designed public course in Texas, opened in 1993 along the Colorado River and surrounding wetlands. The 18-hole layout plays from just over 5,000 yards up to a challenging 6,855 from the tips, welcoming golfers of all skill levels. The front nine takes a prairie links approach, with holes running in every direction so the Texas coastal winds stay in play throughout. Fairway and greenside bunkers are plentiful, and water hazards framed by native coastal grasses add constant pressure. The back nine opens with more links-style holes before shifting toward bluffs overlooking the Colorado River. The signature 14th runs directly along that bluff, where a wayward tee shot finds water. The closing stretch winds through oak and cottonwood forest and Texas wetlands, with wildlife — deer, ducks, rabbits, cranes, hawks, and alligators — a regular part of the round.
