Pau Golf Club 1856

Pau Golf Club 1856, designed by William Dunn Senior and opened in 1856, is one of the oldest golf courses in continental Europe, located in Billère, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. The 18-hole layout plays to a par of 69 over 5,306 metres across the plain of Billère, bordered by the Gave de Pau river. Fairways run with the Pyrenees as a backdrop, alongside the Jurançon vineyards. Small, well-defended greens define the approach game, while out-of-bounds right on the front nine and water hazards on the back nine shape how the course plays. Rated 4.7 by 50+ Hole19 golfers, it is a popular round among Hole19 golfers in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The club has hosted the Coupe des Gaves 2026, the Championnats de France U12, and the Championnat de Nouvelle-Aquitaine 2026. Practice facilities include a driving range, pitch and bunker area, three putting greens, and the PGC Académie offering 32 weeks of lessons with qualified instructors.
