Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club

Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole course in Glimmen, Groningen, set on the historic estate "De Poll" — a protected natural landscape under the Netherlands' Nature Conservation Act of 1928. The course took its current shape through two carefully considered expansions. Architect Frank Pennink designed the renovation and extension to 18 holes, completed in 1987 after 13 hectares of neighbouring land were acquired. The new and existing holes were woven together so that the character of the original estate carries through the entire layout. In 1998, a further 3.3 hectares were added, and Donald Steel optimised the overall design to make the most of the expanded grounds. The result is a course where golf and nature coexist naturally — the estate has held its protected status through every phase of development. Rated 4.6 by Hole19 golfers, it is a well-regarded destination in the north of the Netherlands.
