Description
Niobrara Valley Golf Course is a level 9-hole layout occupying the site of old Niobrara, Nebraska — a town relocated south to higher ground in 1975 after persistent flooding from Missouri River overflow left the original area in swamp-like conditions. Local volunteers converted the abandoned land into a golf course. The course carries a piece of unusual history: in the summer of 1993, basements from the old town's houses collapsed into sinkholes, creating an unplanned set of hazards that became part of the layout.
