Description
Napier Golf Club, a semi-private links course in Waiohiki, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, has been in play since 1898. It hosted the NZ Amateur Golf Championship in 1903, the first New Zealand Open in 1907, and the New Zealand Open again in 1919. The 18-hole layout is tree-lined and easy to walk. Hole 3, known as "The Ridge", is the signature hole — a par 4 for men and par 5 for ladies. Practice facilities include the H&O Plumbing Driving Range, stretching over 225 metres and enclosed by safety netting on all sides for irons and fairway woods, the Bayleys putting green with a gently undulating surface, and a short game area with two bunkers and a target green. The clubhouse features The Links Bar & Restaurant, which can seat and cater for over 100 guests with views across the course. A fully stocked pro shop covers accessories and hire of clubs, shoes, trundlers, and motorized carts. The clubhouse entrance also displays Maori carvings and tukutuku panels.
