McHenry Country Club

McHenry Country Club is an 18-hole private course in McHenry, Illinois, opened in 1922. Rolling fairways, mature trees, and Fox River views shape the layout throughout the property. Several holes stand out for their difficulty. Hole 4 is the longest par 4 on the front nine with a green only 12 yards wide. Hole 5 is the course's longest hole, a par 5 that demands three solid shots. Hole 8 plays 197 yards over a creek but runs 15 yards shorter in effect due to a severe downhill slope. Hole 12 stretches 439 yards with a sharp dogleg left, and hole 16 can be set to a maximum of 452 yards and has the smallest green on the course. The club has hosted The Adams Invitational. Practice options include what the club describes as the largest practice facility in the region, along with a Junior Golf Program featuring weekly PGA instruction clinics. The clubhouse includes dining venues with views, a Heritage Room displaying early metal wood prototypes and Adams family memorabilia, and event spaces for banquets.
