Description
Martindale Country Club, a semi-private 18-hole course in Auburn, Maine, has tournament history stretching back to 1921, having hosted the Maine Open Championship in 1925 and the Men's State Amateur in both 1970 and 1989. It was designed by Alex and Fred Chisholm, with later work by Philip Wogan. The layout moves across rolling terrain through stands of timber alongside the Little Androscoggin River. The 11th hole features a green described as unlike any other, the 12th tee demands accuracy off the tee, and the 18th gives players a genuine chance at birdie or eagle with two solid shots. Practice options include a rock garden putting green and instruction via video analysis, on-course lessons, or Trackman simulators. The clubhouse includes Grille Nineteen, a restaurant serving a Northeast menu with pub food, 10 beers on tap, a full liquor license, and an extensive wine by the glass menu. The pro shop is noted as one of the best in Maine.
