Malone Golf Club (Championship) is an 18-hole parkland layout set across 330 acres of undulating wooded countryside, just five miles from Belfast city centre. The course is defined by a 25-acre natural trout lake that becomes a constant threat from the 13th hole onwards. The 15th demands a tee shot carried entirely over water to a tricky undulating green, while the 18th punishes anything drifting right with the same watery fate — a fitting finish that has ruined many a scorecard. Mature trees shape the character of the holes throughout, and conditions shift noticeably with the seasons as ground moisture affects how the ball plays. The par threes present genuine tests, the 13th ranks as the second hardest hole on the course, and the seventh is considered the hardest of all. John McGheeJuly 14, 2016We went on a Thursday and the first hole we had a wait as there were ladies and children playing but they acknowledged us and let us through. The course has a very relaxing and quiet atmosphere. I'm young and fit so the steep climbs I was able to deal with but for the older person it maybe a challenge as it can be very hilly. Stayed after for a bite to eat in the clubhouse and the food was very reasonable and the views were exceptional. You'll be hard pushed to find a better course for the money.
