Description
Madden's on Gull Lake (The Classic) is an 18-hole resort course in East Gull Lake, Minnesota, playing between 4,859 and 7,102 yards. It opened in 1997 and was named Best New Public Golf Course by Golf Digest that same year. The layout runs through towering oaks in northern Minnesota. Golf Digest has since awarded it a 5-Star rating and ranks it among America's Top 100 Greatest Public Courses, placing it at #80 in 2025. Golfweek places it #76 among the Top 200 Resort Courses in 2025. The course has hosted the 2025 MGA Amateur Championship and the 2025 MN State Amateur Championship. A pro shop is on site, and PGA pro lessons are available.

Erik DoerrJune 26, 2020Well kept, beautiful, but.... Nothing drives me crazy more than blind shots or hitting shots you think are good but end up in terrible shape. This course has a lot of them. Yeah, I have a yardage book. Yeah, I have an app. Yeah, I have a rangefinder. But it still pisses me off. Also, I don’t think I could hit driver on most of the par 4s from the Blacks which is kind of silly to me. Having said all of that, play it anyway because its a great track, just not a 5 star track.
