Lidingö Golfklubb

Lidingö Golfklubb is a gently rolling parkland course where fairways wind between elegant villas and well-kept woodland in the heart of Lidingö's residential landscape, just 15 minutes by car from Stockholm city centre. The course holds a notable place in Swedish golf history as the country's first 18-hole layout, ready for play in 1926 as part of Stockholms GK. When that club relocated, Lidingö GK was founded in 1933. The original design came from English architect H G Mac Donald in a classic old English course style. Between 2006 and 2009 the course underwent extensive reconstruction, with both fairways and greens rebuilt to modern standards and a few holes redesigned entirely. Despite a scorecard length that looks manageable, the course challenges players of all levels. The greens are firm and subtly contoured, making it difficult to hold approach shots — balls frequently release into bunkers or run-off areas.
