Leckford Golf Club (Old)

Leckford Golf Club (Old) sits in the village of Leckford, overlooking the River Test in England — a waterway renowned for its trout fishing. The course is part of an estate owned by the John Lewis Partnership, operated primarily for Partners, their families, and guests. The Old Course opened in 1929 and was designed by Harry Colt, the leading course architect of the Edwardian era. It has remained largely true to his original design and is widely regarded as one of the finest and most challenging nine-hole layouts in the country — a genuine hidden gem. The terrain is flint-based chalk downland, which provides excellent drainage and strong turf-growing conditions. This keeps the course playable year-round, closing only in snow or severe frost. Together with the newer Donald Steel-designed nine, the 18 holes at Leckford offer a rare pairing of two distinct courses, each shaped by a defining architect of their respective era.
