Lake Havasu Golf Club (Desert West)

Lake Havasu Golf Club (Desert West) holds a notable place in Arizona golf history as the first course built in Lake Havasu City. Founder Robert P. McCulloch Sr. commissioned it alongside the famous London Bridge relocation, using both as attractions to draw prospective land buyers to the developing city. Construction began in 1965, with the front nine opening in 1967 and the back nine following in 1969. The 18-hole layout follows a traditional design, stretching to 6,466 yards at a par of 71. Water hazards and sand bunkers appear throughout the course, keeping golfers of all abilities on their toes. Bermuda grass covers the fairways and greens, with rye grass overseeding applied during the winter months to maintain playing conditions year-round.
