Knollwood Club

Knollwood Club, a private 18-hole course in Lake Forest, Illinois, was designed by H.S. Colt and C.H. Alison and opened in 1925. The layout moves across rolling acres shaded by oak trees, with fairway and greenside bunkers positioned throughout and several elevated greens that influence approach decisions. Three holes illustrate the design's character well. The opening par four sets an immediate challenge with fairway bunkers left and out of bounds right. Hole 2 is a short hole with a two-tiered green framed by deep greenside bunkers. Hole 4 is also a par three, playing to a large elevated angled green guarded by two deep bunkers. These holes reflect the precision Colt and Alison built into the course from the outset. Knollwood Club has hosted both USGA and PGA events over its history. It is rated 4.6 by Hole19 golfers.
