Kitakami Shimin Golf Ground

Kitakami Shimin Golf Ground is a 9-hole riverside course in Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, laid out along a riverbed with an abundance of trees and willows separating each hole, along with creeks running between them. Holes 1 through 5 play westward, with a pond lurking to the left of the second-shot landing area on the 1st hole. The 5th, a par-3, plays toward the Tohoku Expressway, and out-of-bounds runs along the left side from the 1st through the 5th. From the 6th hole onward, the course turns eastward with the Waga River visible to the left. Because the front stretch plays west and the back stretch plays east, wind direction and strength can shift considerably depending on the season, making club selection an ongoing consideration throughout the round. Greens are notably large.
