Ise Country Club

Ise Country Club is a 36-hole hillside layout in Tamaki, Mie Prefecture, Japan, designed by Seiichi Inoue — a name that signals both beauty and difficulty in equal measure. Trees line much of the course, and water hazards are placed to genuine strategic effect. The front nine makes good use of natural undulation, opening with a long par-4 played through a wooded corridor. Holes 2 and 6 feature doglegs, and the 9th closes the outward half with a carry over water. The back nine leans toward long par-4s and a more demanding, expansive feel. Elevation changes — uphill and downhill shots alike — add variety throughout, though the fairways remain generous in width. The 18th, a par-5, finishes with a water carry to bring the round to a fitting close.
