Description
Hunter Golf Club, a public 18-hole layout in Meriden, Connecticut, opened in 1929 and was shaped by designers R.J. Ross, V. Ardsley Flood, and Al Zikoris. The course runs across trap rock ridges, and hole 5 looks out toward Castle Craig in Meriden's Hubbard Park. The course has hosted the 2001 CT Women's State Amateur, the Senior New England Public Links Championship, the New England Public Golf Links championships (2006, 1989, 1970, and 1959), the CT Public Links (2011), and the CT Junior Championship (2014). It has been recognized as a Connecticut Ten Best Public Course, ranked number seven among public courses in the state by Pub Links magazine, and named a top ten course by Connecticut Magazine. A dedicated driving range is available on site. The clubhouse and restaurant were restored following a fire in 2014. On tournament days, Violi's serves lunch and dinner.
