Description
Hoylake Golf Club is an 18-hole course in Hoylake, England, with a history rooted in the early days of public golf on Merseyside. The story begins in 1898, when a group of ladies from The Royal Liverpool Golf Club formed Grosvenor Grange Ladies Golf Club, seeking to play without the social constraints of the era. The Royal Liverpool Golf Club purchased land and built a 9-hole course for them. Decades later, the Parish Council acquired the course and expanded it to 18 holes, enlisting James Braid to carry out the redesign. Braid was one third of golf's legendary 'Triumvirate', alongside JH Taylor and Harry Vardon. The course today remains largely as Braid designed it, with the main difference being the order in which the holes are played. Hoylake Golf Club itself was founded in 1933, when a group of golfers chose to establish a new club on these historic links.

Alex ClaytonAugust 01, 2021Unfortunately not a great review. The course is located in a nice place but playing it in August I expected decent condition. The fairways were bare in quite a few areas, bunkers filled with weeds and not raked or levelled and greens were in poor condition some missing grass over a large portion of the green. I appreciate its a muni course but not good condition at the minute.
