Naturally undulating terrain runs through wooded hillsides and valleys clad in heather, fern and gorse, all underlaid by free-draining sandstone. The layout stretches between 6,000 and 7,250 yards off a par of 72. The course has hosted the News of the World Matchplay Championship (1906), the Ladies Open English Championship (1913), and the Brabazon Trophy for the sixth time. It holds 31st place out of 147 courses worldwide on the Golf Club Atlas Custodians of The Game list and carries a 5-Star Joy-to-be-alive rating from FineGolf.

Sean VerityDecember 02, 2024From being greeted with a smile in the pro shop to being shown around by John playing a Hollinwell was really classy experience. Course itself was in really good condition for the time of year, greens not quick due to rain on the day but ran ‘true’. Pace of play was very good we were let through by a members group on the 14th and they had barely held us up, we were playing in a 2-ball. Nothing but good things to say about the experience.
