Higashi Tsukuba Country Club

Higashi Tsukuba Country Club is a 54-hole inland hill course in Ishioka, Ibaraki Prefecture, set across wooded terrain covered by natural red pine forest. Each hole is separated by the trees' distinctive branching, giving the layout a clear, park-like character. The North and Middle courses carry a combined course rating of 74.2 and have produced a number of professional players, including Kaneko Yoshinori and Higashi Satoshi. The North Course is the longest and most demanding of the three, with Alison-style bunkers — featuring their characteristic jutting lips — positioned to challenge players throughout. The Middle Course is also lengthy, with notable holes built around water and several pronounced doglegs. The South Course takes a flatter, more open character through the trees. Its par-4 8th hole from the full back tees ranks among the most difficult holes in Japan.
