The layout moves through towering pines, across fairways that pitch and roll, and over a ravine, with push-up greens and small putting surfaces adding precision demands throughout. Hole 9 features a 70-foot drop — described as the prettiest such drop in Michigan. Water hazards and bunkers appear across the routing. The course has earned a Golfweek Top 20 ranking, a national ranking of 125th Best Resort Golf Course in the USA, and appeared on Golfweek's State-By-State Best Courses You Can Play list from 2013 to 2021. Practice facilities include a driving range open daily ($6 per bag), a free putting green, and PGA Golf Professionals available for lessons by appointment. Trovato Italian Restaurant sits on-site, with a patio overlooking the Maple River.
