Founded in 1896, the course reflects the combined work of architects Donald Ross and Devereaux Emmett. In 2017, the club undertook an extensive renovation covering all 132 sand bunkers, 16 newly constructed tees, and 29 rebuilt tees. The short game practice facility was also overhauled, and greens collars and fairways were expanded throughout. Architect Bruce Hepner led the bunker shaping and tee placement work.
