Hardscrabble Golf Course

Hardscrabble Golf Course in Fort Smith, Arkansas is an 18-hole semi-private layout designed by Perry Maxwell and opened in 1926. Set across River Valley landscape, the course carries more than a century of competitive history. The tournament record is extensive. Hardscrabble has hosted the Hardscrabble Invitational Tournament (1930), the Hardscrabble Open (1945–1953), LPGA Tour events (1948–1950), the USGA Senior Women's Championship, the Trans Mississippi Championships, the Southwest Amateur Championship for the Willard Memorial Trophy, the Women's Southern, the Western Women's, the Western Junior Girls' Championship, the ASGA Stroke and Match Play Championships, and 13 or more PGA Nationwide Tour events, among others. The pro shop earned the 2019 South Central Section Merchandiser of the Year award in the Private Category and carries an extensive selection of equipment, apparel, and golf-themed gifts, with custom club fitting on offer. Golf instruction is available through a Lead Golf Instructor on staff.
