Halifax Golf Club

Halifax Golf Club, founded in 1895 on the Pennine hills above Halifax, England, was shaped by two of golf's most influential designers: James Braid and Dr Alister MacKenzie. The private moorland layout runs to 6,300 yards over par 70, with elevation changes, rugged terrain, streams, dog-legs, split fairways, and blind tee shots defining the round. MacKenzie's influence is visible on hole 2, a par-3 played to a raised green, while hole 17 drops 60 feet from tee to green. The course ranks 13th Best in Yorkshire by Top 100 Courses in the UK and 10th in Yorkshire and 38th in England by National Club Golfer. The clubhouse includes a restaurant led by Chef Hussain and Rushna Hussain, serving a menu of comforting classics alongside Far Eastern heritage dishes. The 1895 Bar stocks a range of wines and local ales, with a patio open in summer and a cosy atmosphere in winter.
