Designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1985, Grand Traverse Resort & Spa (The Bear) is an 18-hole resort course in Michigan, United States, ranked the 18th toughest course in America by Golf Digest. The layout moves across rolling land through trees, lakes, streams, and fruit orchards, with Scottish terraced fairways, tiered greens, deep pot bunkers, moguls and mounds, and deep grassy roughs shaping every hole. A year-round, 2,000-square-foot instruction facility includes three heated, indoor-outdoor hitting bays with mirrors and motion-capture technology for swing analysis. The Grille, located inside the golf Clubhouse, serves lunch and dinner with views overlooking hole 18.
