Governors Run Golf Course
Carlyle, IL, United States
Governors Run Golf Course in Carlyle, IL offers 18 holes of prairie and woodland golf along the Kaskaskia River. Plan your round on Hole19.
Description
Governors Run Golf Course sits between creek tributaries of the Kaskaskia River in Carlyle, Illinois, on ground that was ceremonially broken in October 1992 when Governor Jim Edgar landed his helicopter on what is now the first green. Course architect Don Horrell shaped two distinct halves around the natural setting. The front nine plays through open native prairie textures and lakes, encouraging a more expansive style of play. The back nine tightens through woodlands, crossing creeks and circling lakes, where accuracy and precise shot-making matter more than power. Five sets of tees on every hole make the 18-hole layout accessible across a wide range of abilities. That said, breezes off nearby Lake Carlyle can quickly shift the challenge, turning a manageable round into something considerably more demanding.
