Golfklúbburinn Vestarr - Bárarvöllur

Golfklúbburinn Vestarr - Bárarvöllur is a 9-hole course located in Grundarfjarðarbær, Iceland, on the eastern shore of Grundarfjörður. The club was founded in autumn 1995, and construction of the course began in spring 1996 at Suður-Bár. The terrain is dry and undulating, with good natural conditions for golf and open views over the fjord. The course carries the name Bárarvöllur, derived from the place name Bár — linked to southern sailors of earlier centuries said to have had a chapel there, invoking the patron saints of Bari in southern Italy. The club's name, Vestarr, traces back to the age of settlement. Vestarr Þórólfsson was the first settler in Eyrarsveit, giving the club a name rooted in Iceland's earliest recorded history.
