Golfclub Spillern

Golfclub Spillern is an 18-hole championship course set across roughly 86 hectares at the edge of the Weinviertel hill country in Lower Austria, Austria. Built in 1996, the layout was designed to work with the natural terrain, with a belt of mature trees forming the heart of the course around which the fairways are arranged. In 2014, after 17 years of play, the course underwent a full redesign. The work focused on making the layout more demanding for skilled players, while providing safe landing zones for bogey golfers and avoiding unnecessary punishment for higher handicappers. A notable feature is "Die Alpen", an 18-hole contoured putting green in front of the clubhouse — described as unique in Austria — offering a way into the game for visitors who have yet to take up golf. The practice facility, at 20 hectares the largest in the country, includes three full playing holes that can be used without a golf qualification, supported by the golf academy of Dylan Bawden.
