Description
Gilleleje Golfklub is a member-owned club founded in 1970, making it one of Denmark's oldest golf clubs. It began with a modest 5-hole layout west of Gilleleje before relocating to land at Passebækgård, where a 9-hole course operated from 1971 to 1987. With around 700 members and ambitions for a full 18-hole championship course, the club moved again — this time to the Ferle area, combining land from two farms, Ferlegård and Leidemosegård. In a remarkable gesture, the club's then-chairman Erik Westermann and his wife Gerda donated both farms and all the surrounding land to the club at the general assembly on 17 April 1987. The first 9 holes opened on Whit Monday 1988, with the remaining 9 following a year later. Today the course runs to a full 18 holes in Gilleleje, Capital Region of Denmark.
