Gifu Motosu Country Club

Gifu Motosu Country Club is a 36-hole hillside course in Motosu, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, that uses natural terrain to give each hole a distinct character and a high degree of strategic demand. The front nine plays shorter in distance but rewards accuracy over power, with tricky mid-length holes and a demanding finishing par-5 at the 9th. The back nine flattens out but introduces creeks and ponds that come into play throughout. The 16th is a long hole where a deep bunker guards the front of the green, making the approach genuinely difficult. The 17th is a short hole played over a valley — club selection is critical, as an error can send the ball all the way to the bottom. Greens are a two-green system of bent and Bermuda grass, each surrounded by bunkers. Raised plateau greens appear throughout the layout, demanding precise iron play. In winter, overseeding keeps the fairways green and playable. From the back tees, distances stretch considerably, raising the difficulty for those who want a stiffer test.
