Forest Highlands Golf Course (Canyon)

Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish and opened in 1988, Forest Highlands Golf Course (Canyon) is a private 18-hole layout in Arizona, United States, playing to par 71 from 7,001 yards. The course has earned sustained recognition: Golf Magazine ranked it #1 in Arizona and #32 in the West, Golf Digest placed it #2 among private courses in Arizona, and it appeared on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest list from 1991 to 2014. It also received the 1996 Best of Golf Award from Audubon International. Several holes define the character of the round. The opening hole plays to the smallest green on the course, guarded by a deep bunker left and pine trees right. Hole 2 is a drivable par 4 with a deep swale protecting the green. Hole 4 is a par 3 featuring water and a false front with difficult chipping areas. Hole 7 is a long uphill par 4 with arguably the most difficult green on the course. The course has hosted the 1996 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and the 2006 USGA Mid-Amateur Championship. Facilities include a pro shop, men's and women's locker rooms, and a banquet facility.
