Fairbourne Golf Club

Fairbourne Golf Club is an 18-hole course in Wales with a history stretching back to before the 1890s, when it was known as the Barmouth and District Golf Club. Golfers of that era would cross the harbour from Barmouth by boat or ferry to reach the course, carrying their clubs to a rented room at Penrhyn Farm House near the harbour. After years of neglect, the course was reinstated in 1995 by a group of volunteers. One bunker from the original layout survives and remains in play on the 2nd fairway today. The course is well suited to beginners, and club and ball hire is available from the clubhouse for a nominal fee. It is open year-round, weather permitting, and an honesty box at the entrance allows play even when the clubhouse is closed.
