Description
Douglas Valley Golf Club, designed by Jeff Shuttleworth and opened in 1996, sits in Blackrod, England, United Kingdom. The 9-hole, par-32 layout is semi-private and shaped by three purpose-built lakes, with the river Douglas splitting the course in two and the Pennine hills forming the backdrop. Practice facilities include a 22-bay floodlit driving range with fully carpeted bays, an extensive landing area with four large greens, and Range Servant machines. A short game area and an indoor putting ramp are also available. The Hawthorns Tea Rooms is a 70-seat restaurant open for breakfast and lunch, welcoming golf club members, visitors, and the general public. The Chilli Dip Golf Store stocks major quality golfing brands. A Function Suite holds up to 140 guests, and a private garden area is on site.

John HeatleyAugust 24, 2024Course is not in good condition. The greens are very patchy and the bunkers are the worst I’ve played with very little sand and plants growing in them.
Michael ChamberlainOctober 01, 2022Love this course as it's ideal for a quick 9 if needed. There's a few tricky holes that need a bit of thought. Ideal for the beginner or average golfer. Excellent advice in the shop. It's had some development with better tees and fairways in good condition.
Dan WillsonDecember 30, 2021Could be a superb course. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good Sunday day out, but more for a social. The greens aren’t very well looked after, we played about 2-3 weeks after a storm and there were storm twigs on the greens so they haven’t been matted. There are also a lot of worm mounds which affect hall line. The course itself is quite challenging which is great, and ideal in summer but the greens let it down. Also quite boggy in winter but that can’t be avoided in Blighty! It’s good for a day out but not the best if you’re sticking a wager on with your mates or looking for a score challenge.
