Country Club of Florida

Country Club of Florida occupies 160 acres of what was once the Hunt Dairy Farm in Golf, Florida. The original 18-hole layout was designed by Chicago architect Robert Bruce Harris, and in April 1958 the Western Golf Association chose the brand-new course to host its 56th Western Amateur Championship. The terrain rolls across a prominent sand ridge — an ancient Atlantic dune line — giving the course an elevation character uncommon in South Florida. In 1987, Arthur Hills oversaw a remodel that preserved the course's distinctive routing, where both nines mirror each other in their sequence of par fours, fives, and threes. A second renovation followed in 2006 under Lester George of Richmond, Virginia. Ponds and lakes were deepened and enlarged, and the bunker count was brought up to 83, while the original routing sequence remained intact.
