Cleveland Golf Club

Cleveland Golf Club, founded in 1887, is the oldest course in Yorkshire and the only true championship links in the county, set along the North East coastline near Redcar. The 18-hole layout measures 6,921 yards from the black tees (CSS 74) and 6,704 yards from the white tees (CSS 73), both at par 72. The Ladies Championship course plays from the red tees at 5,545 yards, also par 72 with a CSS of 73. The course is flat and easy to walk, with strategically placed bunkers on fairways and around the greens. Like many championship links, it becomes a genuine test when the wind picks up. Harry S. Colt is among the architects who shaped the course over its long history, with Donald Steel adding three new holes in 2000. The club has hosted the English Golf Union county finals, the Yorkshire County Team Championship, and is home to the Cleveland Salver amateur scratch competition.
