Castlemaine Golf Club has been part of the Victorian golfing landscape since 1899, when the original course was just eight holes carved through the old mining terrain of Muckleford. Members back then played with hickory-shafted clubs and compressed Indiarubber balls. The club has evolved considerably over more than a century. Today it offers a full 18-hole championship course with watered fairways and manicured grass greens — a far cry from its modest origins.
