Hole 16 at Carlow Golf Club (Deerpark) was selected by Christy O'Connor Snr. as one of the best 18 holes in Ireland — a distinction that points to the quality running through this 18-hole parkland course in County Carlow, Ireland. Designed by Cecil Barcroft and opened in 1922, the layout makes full use of naturally free-draining terrain with springy turf, elevated tee boxes, valleys, and stone-faced raths. Hole 6 is a 165-metre par 3 played from an elevated tee over a deep valley. Hole 8 plays from the highest point on the course. The course is ranked 31st in the 2025 Top 100 Golf Courses in Ireland and rated 4.7 by 90+ Hole19 golfers. Access is semi-private. PGA Professional Damien McGrane is available for lessons. The Clubhouse Bar opens daily from 10:00 and includes flat-screen satellite television, showers, and locker room facilities.
