Steel himself regards the Palmerston as one of his finest creations — a course built with minimal intrusion to the landscape. Where the estate's Melbourne course puts the river in play, the Palmerston takes a different approach entirely. Ancient woodland of rare Hornbeam, Scots and Corsican Pine, and 300-year-old Oak trees line the fairways and form some of the most formidable natural hazards on any course in the country. Fiendishly placed bunkers and large, undulating greens add further challenge across this par 73 layout. Hole19 golfers rate it 4.8, making it one of the most highly regarded courses on the platform.
