Boldmere Golf Club

Boldmere Golf Club, located in Sutton Coldfield on the edge of Sutton Park, was established in 1936 as a 9-hole course before expanding to its current 18 holes. It holds the distinction of hosting the oldest pro-am event in Europe, running continuously since 1952. The course plays to a par of 63 over 4,474 yards, made up of 10 par 3s, 7 par 4s, and one par 5. Despite its modest length, it is widely regarded as a tricky test — many of the par 3s are long enough to demand a wood off the tee. The course record stands at 56, set by R. Bardesley of Moor Hall Golf Club in 2010, a 7-under round that underlines just how demanding those par 3s can be. Several holes sit alongside La Reserve lake, with the 16th and 18th offering particularly rewarding views across the water — though the 18th's proximity to the lake can punish a slight fade.
