Bittersweet Golf Club

Bittersweet Golf Club, a public 18-hole course in Gurnee, Illinois, plays through a landscape shaped by mature hardwood trees, vibrant wetlands, native prairies, oak savannas, wildflowers, and a 100-year-old sage meadow. Yardage stretches from 5,500 to 6,900 yards, and bunkers add further challenge throughout the layout. Hole 11, a par 5, offers a wide view from the tee and is considered the course's signature. Hole 16, a par 4, combines that same open sightline with a fast-but-true green. Practice options include a lighted grass-tee driving range, two chipping and putting areas, and a bunker and short-game area. Individual lessons are available, and junior clinics run each summer across beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The amply stocked Pro Shop covers equipment needs before or after the round. The Fireside Bar & Grill serves golf comfort food and cold beverages from a grill room, wood deck, back patio, and picnic tables.
