Description
Athens Country Club, founded in 1946 in Athens, Texas, is a private 18-hole course playing to par 71 from 5,900 yards. The layout moves across gently rolling terrain lined with mature trees, with Bermuda grass greens throughout. Hole 13 is regarded as one of the best holes in East Texas. Hole 14 is a picturesque carry over water to a lightbulb-shaped green. Practice facilities include a driving range for short- and long-iron work, a large MiniVerde putting green, and a dedicated chipping area. The pro shop is well-stocked with apparel and equipment. The Dining Room has been recently remodeled and runs a lunch special every Wednesday, a business lunch buffet on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and an elaborate brunch buffet each Sunday. The Main Bar & 19th Hole and a ballroom available for banquets, dinner dances, wedding receptions, and civic club functions round out the clubhouse.
