Alta Sierra Country Club

Alta Sierra Country Club, a semi-private 18-hole course in Alta Sierra, California, opened in 1964 and was designed by Bob E. Baldock and Jim Summers. The layout moves through pines, black oaks, creeks, ponds, and wetlands. The par-5 opening hole plays 497 yards from the back tees through a chute of evergreens, with a creek crossing 270 yards out. The course has been voted Best Golf Course in Nevada County year after year, recognized by Golf Digest as one of the Best Places to Play in North America, and holds Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary status. It has hosted the Nevada County Amateur Championships and the Nevada County Junior Championships. A driving range with demo days and golf instruction from PGA professionals are available on site. The pro shop carries equipment and apparel, and offers custom club fitting, regripping, club storage, and custom equipment orders. Timbers Bar & Grill serves appetizers, sandwiches, salads, and hamburgers with views overlooking the tree-lined fairways.
