Description
Hole 1 at Abbeyleix Golf Club, known as The Saucer, sets the tone immediately: a par 5 where the green sits down in a bowl, surrounded on all sides by slopes. Hole 3, The Rock, plays from the top of Grove Hill with views reaching as far as Slievenamon. Hole 8 doglegs left toward the gardens of Rathmoyle House, built around 1760. Hole 17, a long par 3, looks out toward the Slieve Bloom Mountains. Designed by Mel Flanagan and opened in 2000, this 18-hole parkland course in County Laois, Ireland, runs to 6,134 yards. The layout moves through mature trees, over water hazards, and across elevated greens with slopes and bunkers throughout. Practice facilities include driving nets, a putting green, and a chipping and pitching green. The Roots Bar & Restaurant is on site for a meal before your round or a drink after. A Club Shop and changing rooms are also available. Semi-private access means the course is open to visiting golfers.
